Why Golden 1 Center is the place ‘superstar gamers need to train, compete and win’

The Kings Guard crew now has a home.

A day after naming Kings minority owner Shaquille O'Neal the 2K Gaming League team's general manager, a series of photos were posted on Instagram showing off the new esports training facility and content studio at Golden 1 Center.

Kings owner Vivek Ranadive spoke about the center when plans to open it were detailed in December.

“Using technology to engage with our fans and reach new audiences has always been core to our organization’s mission,” Ranadive said. “Golden 1 Center is the most advanced arena for basketball, entertainment and esports. This state-of-the-art facility will set a new standard and provide the best-in-class tools that the next generation of superstar gamers need to train, compete and win.”

The league's inaugural draft is set for Wednesday in New York City. Kings Guard has the fourth overall pick in the 17-team league and will select six players in the 102-player draft.
