Report: Kings center Dewayne Dedmon wants to be traded after signing $40 million deal
Kings center Dewayne Dedmon reportedly wants to be traded six months after signing a $40 million free-agent deal to come to Sacramento.
League sources told The Athletic’s Shams Charania that Dedmon wants out of Sacramento and multiple teams are making offers in anticipation of a deal before the February trade deadline. The Kings brought Dedmon in to start alongside young big man Marvin Bagley III, but Dedmon has fallen out of coach Luke Walton’s rotation, appearing in only three games since Dec. 4.
Dedmon averaged 10.8 points and 7.5 rebounds for the Atlanta Hawks last season, shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from 3-point range. Kings general manager Vlade Divac signed Dedmon to a three-year, $40 million deal in July believing he would be a perfect fit for his team, but Dedmon hasn’t been the same in Sacramento. He is averaging 5.0 points and 4.0 rebounds, shooting 41.9 percent overall and just 22.9 percent from 3-point range.
