The Kings outdueled the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night, winning 126-123 in Sacramento’s first playoff game in almost 17 years.
To say the contest lived up to the hype would be an understatement. An already-raucous Golden 1 Center crowd erupted during a back-and-forth fourth quarter that saw De’Aaron Fox trading 3-pointers with Warriors superstars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
But the excitement wasn’t just contained to the arena or the Downtown Commons, which served as a purple hub of celebration throughout all of Saturday.
“The memories made on a night like tonight. The bonds we forged or strengthened because of a shared interest. THIS was why we fought so hard to keep this team in Sacramento,” tweeted Tony Leadholm, a counselor at UC Davis. “I’m so very #SacramentoProud right now. #LightTheBeam.”
