The stars were out Friday evening for Game 6 between the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors.
In a must-win game for the Kings, thousands of Warriors fans and a limited number of Sacramento faithful filled the Chase Center in San Francisco. Among them were celebrities spanning music, television and sports.
Rapper Earl “E-40” Stevens’ took his spot courtside following some controversy earlier in the series. The hip-hop artist sported a glittering gold chain around his neck and a brightly-colored orange fedora.
E-40, a lover of Bay Area sports, showed his support for Golden State, using blue and yellow hearts in an Instagram post. Last week, he released a music video for his new track “Front Row 40,” which included TV broadcast clips over the years of the rapper rooting for the Warriors.
Warriors superfan and actor Nick Braun was also in attendance and featured early in the game on the Golden State big screen. Braun, best known for his role as Greg Hirsch in the HBO series “Succession,” joined ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski’s podcast last year to discuss his Warriors fandom. He discussed drawing inspiration from Stephen Curry when on set.
Pro football Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott wore a Warriors cap while sitting next to Braun. Lott, who played for the San Francisco 49ers for nine seasons, is widely considered to be one of the best safeties of all time in the NFL.
Kings fans, however, were hard to come by Friday in the sea of gold and blue colored attire. Those individuals who braved the Golden State fandom were met with a chorus of boos and chants of “Warriors.”
Before the game, the father-and-son duo Felipe Torres, 47, and Julian, 20, were among the few purple-clad fans making their way to the arena. They had seen only three other fans besides themselves.
They said most Warriors faithful left them alone, but one zealous fan in a wheelchair circled them twice while chanting “Go Warriors.”
Both of the longtime fans had traveled from Stockton and said they were confident a Game 7 on Sunday was on its way. But if luck wasn’t on their side, they said this Kings season could be deemed successful.
“Win or lose, I’m satisfied,” said Julian Torres.
The last time the Kings were in the playoffs he was 4 years old.
