Another top prospect visits Sacramento Kings as NBA draft approaches

Arkansas star Darius Acuff Jr. isn’t the only top NBA draft prospect who has come to Sacramento for a private visit with the Kings.

Sources tell The Sacramento Bee that Houston point guard Kingston Flemings has also visited Sacramento in the past 10 days or so, as first reported by NBA insider Jake Fischer. In addition, Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports reported the Kings were scheduled to bring Illinois combo guard Keaton Wagler to Sacramento for an individual workout sometime this week.

With five days remaining before the draft begins on Tuesday, Acuff, Flemings and Wagler are the only projected lottery picks known to have visited Sacramento. Kings general manager Scott Perry has allowed media to interview most pre-draft workout participants since taking the job in April 2025, but top prospects and their agents often prefer to keep their visits quiet.

Acuff, Flemings and Wagler are consensus top-10 picks. One of the three should be available to the Kings at No. 7, assuming BYU’s AJ Dybantsa, Kansas’ Darryn Peterson, Duke’s Cameron Boozer and North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson are selected with the top four picks in the draft. Louisville point guard Mikel Brown Jr. is another possibility for Sacramento, but the Kings haven’t been connected to him in the pre-draft process.

Acuff is the likely choice if he is available at No. 7 due to his elite offensive abilities and superstar potential, but Flemings may very well be Sacramento’s pick if Acuff goes to the Los Angeles Clippers at No. 5 or the Brooklyn Nets at No. 6. A current NBA agent and former scout who spoke to The Bee ranked Acuff and Flemings as the best pure point guards in the draft, saying Flemings will be a “10-year starter” in the NBA but “not an All-Star.”

Flemings averaged 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.5 steals as a freshman while leading Houston to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16. He shot 47.6% from the field, 38.7% from 3-point range and 84.5% at the free-throw line.

Houston listed Flemings at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds. At the NBA combine, he measured 6-2 ½ without shoes with a 6-4 wingspan. He has drawn comparisons to De’Aaron Fox and Derrick Rose due to his explosive quickness and ability to push the pace.

Acuff averaged 23.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 6.4 assists in his only season at Arkansas to help coach John Calipari’s Razorbacks reach the Sweet 16. He shot 48.4% from the field, 44.3% from 3-point range and 80.9% at the free-throw line.

Wagler averaged 17.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 0.9 steals as a freshman while leading Illinois to the Final Four. He shot 44.5% from the field, 39.7% from 3-point range and 79.6% at the free-throw line.

Wagler also posted impressive numbers in the NCAA Tournament. He averaged 18.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 37.1% on 7.1 3-point attempts per game.

Brown averaged 18.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.2 steals to help Louisville reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He shot 41% from the field, 34.4% from 3-point range and 84.4% at the free-throw line.
