The 49ers executed a third trade on Saturday.

Moments after trading running back Matt Breida to the Miami Dolphins, and hours after acquiring Pro Bowl offensive lineman Trent Williams amid Joe Staley’s retirement, San Francisco sent receiver Marquise Goodwin to the Philadelphia Eagles to move up 20 spots from pick No. 210 to 190 in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.

The trade was first reported by ESPN.

Goodwin, 29, has been on the trade block for some time after dealing with injuries over the past two seasons in which he combined for just 35 catches, 581 yards and five touchdowns. He ended last season on injured reserve with a knee injury while appearing in nine games.

Following the loss of Emmanuel Sanders in free agency, San Francisco addressed its receiving corps by moving up six spots in the first round of the NFL Draft to acquire Arizona State’s Brandon Aiyuk, which made it likely Goodwin wouldn’t have made the final roster if he stuck around.

Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and Kendrick Bourne are expected to be the team’s top three receivers, while Trent Taylor, Kelvin Benjamin, Dante Pettis, Richie James Jr. and Jalen Hurd are expected to compete to fill out the position group.

Goodwin signed a three-year extension worth some $18.85 million in the 2018 offseason after a breakout campaign in 2017 when he had career highs in catches (56) and yards (962).
