The 49ers added another receiver in the NFL draft.

With pick No. 217 overall in Round 7, the selection acquired in the trade for Eli Harold in 2018, San Francisco tapped Tennessee receiver Jauan Jennings.

Jennings, 22, is a big, physical slot receiver who could add a different dynamic to the team’s new-look receiving corps. At 6-3 and 215 pounds, Jennings led all FBS receivers with 30 broken tackles last season and averaged 8.0 yards after the catch, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Murfeesboro, Tenn. native had 2,153 yards on 146 catches over 50 games (31 starts) and scored 18 touchdowns. He was the Volunteers team MVP last season and a team captain.

Jennings was considered a mid-round draft pick by some observers. But he tested poorly at the scouting combine by running a 4.72 in the 40-yard dash with just a 29-inch vertical jump. Jennings was suspended twice, once for being accused of stepping on an opponent on the sideline and again for a prophanity laced tirade on social media.

The 49ers added Arizona State’s explosive wideout Brandon Aiyuk with pick No. 25 in the first round. The team earlier in the day traded Marquise Goodwin to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and Kendrick Bourne are expected to be the team’s top three receivers, while Trent Taylor, Kelvin Benjamin, Dante Pettis, Richie James Jr., Jalen Hurd and Jennings are expected to compete to fill out the position group.
