Popular K Street bar posts opening for ‘a few good mermen’

Sacramentans hip to the city’s bar scene know of Dive Bar and its mermaid tank, which features swim-and-dance shows for customers as they imbibe.

Dive Bar, on K Street, is now seeking more men – nay, “a few good mermen” – to fill that tank on weekends, according to a Friday post on Facebook.

The listing requires résumés and headshots of applicants who have “swim, dance or performance” experience, and it cautions jokesters: “Serious Inquiries only, please.”

The bar features “mer-couple” shows 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday, the Facebook page says.

In the comments section, Dive Bar specifies they currently have openings for mermen only, not mermaids. And no need to bring a tail – Dive Bar will provide the costumes.

The venue’s professional mermaids are also available for hire to parties and special events, according to their website.

Dive Bar is located at 1016 K St. in Sacramento.
