Oscars flub sparks social media frenzy
Oh, live television. Cheryl Boone Isaacs (pictured at right), Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president, lit up Twitterverse Thursday when she was announcing this year’s Oscar nominations and pronounced cinematographer Dick Pope’s name as “Dick Poop.”
The artist received a nomination in the Best Cinematography category for “Mr. Turner.” Isaacs quickly corrected herself, but people ran with the flub. Soon #DickPoop spread on Twitter like wildfire. The Academy Awards will air on ABC on Feb. 22.
Here is a sample of the Tweets on the subject.
Well now it's clear who's going to win Best Cinematography. #dickpoop

I hope that Dick Poop wins the Oscar so that Adele Dazeem can give it to him. #DickPoop #NailedIt
