Beer garden on tap for East Sacramento

East Sacramento may soon get a new beer garden.

Sac Yard Tap House and Beer Garden plans to open at the site of an old auto repair shop at 1725 33rd St. as early as fall, according to owner Melody Thebeau.

Thebeau envisions an outdoor garden area of 3,800 square feet that includes fire pits and even a bocce ball area. Inside, there will be a bar with 24 taps serving up local and regional beers, as well as wine. The existing auto building will be retained, which is roughly 2,400 square feet.

Thebeau, a resident of East Sacramento who works in commercial realty, said there is a need for a gathering spot in the neighborhood where people can talk and drink beer.

“There are a lot of East Sacramentans that just want to be in their neighborhood,” she said.

Since there won’t be a full kitchen on site, the tap house will partner with local delis to offer prepared foods like sandwiches and salads. Food trucks will be invited on a regular basis.

The project is still in the planning stages.
