SaveMart acquires North Highlands site

Modesto-based grocer Save Mart announced Monday that it has acquired the North Highlands Food Source store at 7477 Watt Ave.

Under the announced plan, the FoodMaxx store at 8065 Watt Ave. will move to the new location, about a mile away. The old 50,000-square-foot FoodMaxx location will remain open until the scheduled Oct. 12 grand opening of the other store.

The new 60,000-square-foot location will employ all current FoodMaxx workers. The company said it hopes that some of the current Food Source employees will be among the 20 to 30 new hires needed for the new location.
