Power outages affect more than 20,000 SMUD customers

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District was working to restore power to more than 20,000 customers late Wednesday afternoon as rain and high winds took a toll.

As of 5 p.m., there were 21 outages affecting a total of 20,334 customers according to the district’s website.

The largest outage, affecting 16,447 customers, was in the Rio Linda area.

In Fair oaks, 1,752 customers were without power, while 1,658 customers were without power in the South Natomas area.

Wind gusts of up to 56 mph had been measured at Sacramento International Airport.
