Boat sinks after catching fire in Sacramento County, River Delta Fire District says
A boat caught fire and sank Thursday evening in the Mokelumne River, near the Sacramento River Delta, authorities said.
Fire crews and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to a “large boat fire” near the Rancho Marina RV Park on Brannan Island Road, the River Delta Fire District said in a social media post.
Firefighters failed to extinguish the fire, which was difficult to access because it was off shore, according to the post. The boat eventually sank.
The Fire District and Coast Guard searched the water for possible victims as a precaution, but no injuries were reported, and “everyone was accounted for,” authorities wrote.
