Pedestrian killed by truck in early morning accident
A semi truck struck and killed a pedestrian early Tuesday in south Sacramento, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Officer Eddie Macauley, Sacramento police spokesman, said police received a call about 4:28 a.m. from a truck driver saying he had just struck a pedestrian on Florin Perkins Road.
The truck was turning northbound on Florin Perkins from Fruitridge Road when the driver thought he hit something and saw a shopping cart, Macauley said. When the driver checked, he saw a man had been struck.
The name of the man who died had not been released.

Macauley said the truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police in their investigation. He said the driver did not appear to be impaired by drugs or alcohol.
Florin Perkins Road was closed to traffic between Fruitridge Road and 23rd Avenue until about 9 a.m. to allow for the investigation..
