Man’s body recovered from American River in Sacramento

The Sacramento Fire Department recovered the body of a man from the American River early Monday evening.

Chris Harvey, Fire Department spokesman, said a passerby along the river reported seeing a body beneath the Highway 160 bridge about 5 p.m.

Harvey said Fire Department crews recovered the body, which was near the riverbank, and turned it over to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

He said the body, which was fully clothed, was that of an adult male and appeared to have been in the water for some time.
