Funderland concession stand destroyed by fire in Land Park

The concession stand at Funderland, the popular children’s amusement park in Sacramento’s Land Park, caught fire Tuesday night and was gutted.

The fire did not spread to the park’s popular rides. It was extinguished and there were no injuries, said Sacramento Fire Department spokesman Chris Harvey.

No one was in the park at the time of the fire, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Arson investigators were on scene Tuesday night.

The concession stand, close to Funderland’s main gate, closed hours before the fire was reported.

Funderland opened in 1946. Its nine rides include a small roller coaster, an airplane ride and a carousel that generations of Sacramento children have enjoyed.
