Woman dies in fiery single-vehicle crash at Highway 99 and Broadway

One woman is dead after a fiery car crash on the Broadway offramp from Highway 99 early Monday morning.

The female driver veered off the road while northbound Highway 99 at a high rate of speed at around 2:55 a.m., California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Michael Bradley said.

Her 2008 Toyota RAV 4 hit a tree, causing it to flip several times and come to rest on its wheels halfway down the offramp before catching fire. The ramp remained closed until about 5 a.m.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has yet to release the woman's identity or determine whether alcohol or other drugs played a role in the crash. Bradley said she died at the scene from blunt force trauma and burns.
