Man, 25, killed in Del Paso Heights shooting

One man is dead and another person injured after a shooting in Del Paso Heights Tuesday morning, according to Sacramento police.

RC Carrier, 25, was unresponsive at the scene. Sacramento Fire Department personnel performed life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead. Carrier was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.

Sacramento Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert shortly after midnight in the 3800 block of Dry Creek Road, a few blocks from Grant Union High School. Police also received multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting victim in the area.

Broadcastify, an online police radio archive, recorded the initial alert to police.

“We have a separate caller saying they and a boyfriend were shot or shot at… they’re in a dark-colored Mercedes on the side of the street and subjects in an unknown vehicle pulled up and shot them,” the dispatcher reported.

A Google Maps view of the street shows a department Police Observation Device, or police camera, hoisted onto a pole.

Officers found Carrier and a second victim with gunshot wounds. That person was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers searched the area for witnesses and evidence. Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation, but no motive has been determined.
