Motorist in critical condition after colliding with light-rail train
A motorist involved in a light-rail collision Thursday night near Horn Road and Folsom Boulevard was in critical condition Friday, Regional Transit reported.
The man’s car collided with the train when he tried to beat the train across the tracks, said Devra Selenis, RT spokeswoman. The train operator applied the train’s brakes, but was unable to stop in time. The impact pushed the car into a nearby ditch. All alarms and the train horns were operating, Selenis said.
Light-rail service was disrupted Thursday evening, but resumed as scheduled Friday morning. A bus “bridge” was in place between the Butterfield and Sunrise stations Thursday night.
Rider Alert Update: Bus bridge will be in place through end of service tonight. Light rail service will start in the am at scheduled time.
