Heat wave: Are we in store for a record-breaking week?
Seven straight days of 100-degree heat are forecast for Sacramento, including three days in which high temperature records are predicted to be set.
For Sacramento, renowned for its hot, dry summers, a week of consecutive 100-degree temperatures is not a record. That dreadful record-breaking string of torrid days occurred in July 2006, when Sacramento had 11 days in a row of 100-degree weather.
However, individual days in the upcoming week could break records, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters say that records could be smashed in Sacramento on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Here’s the daily temperature forecast and records for the next seven days:
Friday forecast: 101. Record: 108
Saturday forecast: 103. Record: 102
Sunday forecast: 107. Record: 105
Monday forecast: 107. Record: 106
Tuesday forecast: 108. Record: 108
Wednesday forecast: 106. Record: 108
Thursday forecast: 103. Record: 107.
