Data Tracker: See the region's highest-paid nonprofit CEOs

The vast majority of nonprofit CEOs in Sacramento don't earn much money and are, to say the least, not rich. But about three dozen earn more than $250,000 annually.

The list of well-compensated nonprofit executives is dominated by those in the health care industry, credit union leaders  and those working for large professional associations. There are also a few CEOs at organizations focused on education and poverty relief that make that much.

Nonprofit organizations are exempt from paying federal and state taxes.

Here's the list of nonprofit CEOs in the four-county area that work at organizations with more than $5 million in annual revenue and make more than $250,000 a year, according to the most recent tax forms filed by nonprofits. All salaries are from the organizations' 2013 or 2012 returns; some CEOs shown may have retired or left their organization.
