All-Metro: Woodcreek’s Paul Hayes is boys coach of the year

Paul Hayes has produced championship seasons at Woodcreek High School before, but nothing like this historic run.

The Timberwolves went unbeaten in the Sierra Foothill League, won the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championship over top-seeded Sheldon and then won the rematch in the CIF Northern California Open Division finals.

Woodcreek (32-3) became the area’s first team – boys or girls – to win the prestigious Open title and now rank among the area’s all-time great teams.
