Sweet news: Cinnabon rolls out Elk Grove location serving traditional treats with a twist

Elk Grove news

Elk Grove, your Cinnabon is here. Pretzels, too, with sister shop Auntie Anne’s sharing the billing at their new location at Bruceville Road and Whitelock Parkway.

After a soft opening over the holidays, the sweets-and-pretzels spot debuted Monday.

Elk Grove’s new home for sweet cinnamon roll treats is open with another twist, in addition to the pretzels: It’s the chain’s first location not attached to a shopping mall or airport, the first in a line of “streetside” locations for Cinnabon, said Benjamin Seabury, who leads the Oakland-based ownership group 1100 Group behind the Elk Grove location, 10065 Bruceville Road, in the Walmart shopping complex.

The eatery-focused 1100 Group also helms Polanco Cantina in downtown Sacramento across from Golden 1 Center.

“It’s been a great experience for us. It’s busy,” Seabury said. That was evident on a rainy Wednesday afternoon, a line stretching the length of the counter for Cinnabon’s classic frosted rolls and soft and warm Auntie Anne pretzels.

Search “Cinnabon” on local Twitter and it’s clear the hunger for a Cinnabon in Elk Grove dates back years.

The Cinnabon-Auntie Anne’s twinbill also shares the building with drive-through coffee stop Dutch Bros., a natural pairing, says Seabury.

“Cinnamon rolls and pretzels are a good match,” he said. “And the synchronicity is great.”
