Elk Grove suspect eludes police after subject barricaded in gas station bathroom released

Elk Grove news

Law enforcement in Elk Grove were continuing their search for a suspect who fled from a stolen vehicle Saturday after releasing one person who was holed up in a gas station bathroom.

The Elk Grove Police Department in a post just before 4:30 p.m. said officers were searching for two suspects, “who fled from a stolen vehicle” near East Stockton Boulevard and Sheldon Road.

One suspect was last seen near the Bow Street Apartments, near 8740 Auberry Drive, Elk Grove police said.

“The other suspect is believed to be barricaded inside a restroom at a nearby gas station,” the Facebook post said.

Officers worked to establish communication with the subject, who eventually surrendered.

“After further investigation, the individual who refused to exit the restroom and detained was not related to the stolen vehicle and since has been released,” Elk Grove police said in a subsequent social media post.

No other details were released and police did not give a description of the wanted suspect.
