These are the best spots for a plate of spaghetti in the Sacramento area, readers say

After a week of voting, Bee readers have decided on the Sacramento area spot to get the best plate of spaghetti.

And after more than 700 responses, Old Spaghetti Factory, a chain restaurant with several locations in the area, took the top spot.

But the results were close. Several restaurants shared the same ranking. Remember: These polls aren’t scientific, they’re for fun.

Here are the top picks:

THE OLD SPAGHETTI FACTORY

Locations: Sacramento, Elk Grove, Rancho Cordova, Roseville, more.

Ranking No. 1 in the “Best Sacramento-area spaghetti poll,” Spaghetti Factory is a family-owned and operated chain restaurant originally founded in Portland, Oregon in 1969.

It gained 81 votes, or 12%.

ADAMO’S KITCHEN

Location: 2107 P Street, Sacramento

Adamo’s Kitchen takes the second spot. The restaurant’s chef, Polo Adamo, was born and raised in Sacramento. All pasta is made in-house and fresh ingredients are sourced from the city, according to its website.

It gained 55 votes or 8%

PAESANOS

Location: Sacramento, Elk Grove, Davis.

Paesanos, which took the third spot, is an Italian restaurant serving pizzas, pasta, salads and beer, wine and cocktails.

It gained 42 votes or 6%

VISCONTI’S RISTORANTE

Locations: 2700 East Bidwell St. #700, Folsom

Visconti’s Ristorante shares the third spot with Paesanos, both receiving the same amount of votes. According to Visconti’s Ristorante’s website, its recipes have been past down from generations in southern Italy. Meals are created with imported cheese, meat and wine.

It gained 42 votes or 6%

MATTONE RISTORANTE

Mattone Ristorante comes in at No. 4, taking 6% of the votes. The restaurant offers a fine dining experience with pastas, fish, soup and more.

It gained 41 votes or 6%.

SAMPINO’S KITCHEN AT JOE MARTY’S

Location: 1500 Broadway, Sacramento

Sampino’s Kitchen at Joe Marty’s also comes in at No. 4, sharing the same amount of votes as Mattone Ristorante. At Simpino’s, which has been open since 2006, all dishes are supervised or made by members of the owner’s family, according to their website.

It gained 41 votes or 6%

OBO’ ITALIAN TABLE AND BAR

Obo’ Italian Table and Bar comes in at No. 5, racking up 33 votes. Obo’ is part of a list of Selland family restaurants all within the Sacramento area: The Kitchen, Ella Dinning Room and Bar and a coupe of Selland’s Market-Cafe locations.

It gained 33 votes or 5%

II FORNAIO

Location: Sacramento, Roseville, more.

Ranking last place on the top list, Il Fornaio serves authentic Italian food using fresh ingredients and traditional cooking techniques, according to its website.

It gained 31 votes or 4%.
