Localis remains one of Sacramento’s two Michelin-starred restaurants after a 2023 California Michelin Guide was released this week.

The midtown restaurant earned a Michelin star in December 2022. If the spot is still on your list of eateries to try, be prepared for the cost.

Localis’ friendly, fine menu tasting at 2031 S St. costs $197 per person — then add more for the drink pairing, tip, tax and fees. Reservations are prepaid and non-refundable, meaning you must pay in advance to book a spot and you won’t get your money back.

Here’s a look at Localis’ menu, plus how to make a reservation online and what you should expect to pay:

What’s on Localis menu?

Localis’ menu changes with the season and is dependent on what the “region’s farmers are producing each day.”

“While most ingredients we include in our dishes are sourced locally,” Localis wrote on its website, “mangoes from Belize in June are the best and there is no better scallop that the one from Nantucket in November.”

Tasting menus aren’t published in advance.

Those who can snag a reservation by Saturday, Aug. 5 should expect a tasting menu filled with lobster popcorn and khao soi, a coconut curry noodle soup.

Chefs select a wine pairing to complement each dish throughout the 12-course tasting menu. Cocktails, beers and non-alcoholic drinks are also available.

How to make a reservation at Localis

Reservations are booked exclusively online and new dates and times are posted every 60 days. You can also choose to be wait-listed and will be contacted if a reservation is available.

Availability is dependent on where you sit and the number of people in your party.

Once you select your course, you’ll be prompted to add beverage parings between $95 per person for non-alcoholic drinks to $330 per person for “rare and aged” wines. A 20% service charge, plus taxes and fees will be added to your bill.

For example, a couple could spend roughly $1,380 for a 12-course tasting menu at the Chef’s Counter with two alcoholic beverage pairings.

Here are the options for meal courses:

Chef’s counter 12-course tasting menu

  • Reservation for parties of one to six
  • $197 per person

Dining room 12-course tasting menu

  • Reservation for parties of one to four
  • $197 per person

Be sure to indicate food sensitivities when you book a reservation.
