Locally-owned vegan fast-food restaurant announces east Sacramento expansion
All-vegan fast food restaurant Burger Patch will open its third location, at 1420 65th St., in early 2021, replacing the Starbucks previously in the F65 mixed-use center, according to a media release.
It’ll be a short walk from Sacramento State’s campus, a move that co-owner and alumna Danea Horn said was as intentional as Burger Patch’s June opening in downtown Davis.
“I spent (two) years completing my Master’s in Economics at Sac State before pursuing my PhD at UC Davis. It’s a vibrant campus filled with energy and talent from all walks of life,” Horn said in the release. “We hope to hire dozens of students and bring that same diverse energy to the restaurant.”
Danea and Phil Horn began organizing Burger Patch pop-ups in 2017 and opened their first brick-and-mortar location at 2301 K St. in midtown Sacramento two years later. Menu constants include Beyond burgers and salads, agave milkshakes and loaded fries, plus rotating specials such as bratwurst and cheezesteaks.
At 1,600 square feet, the new location is the largest of the three. Fifteen to 20 customers will be able to sit inside whenever COVID-19 social distancing restrictions are lifted, but the plant-based restaurant is emphasizing contactless pickup from a dozen outward-facing “FastPatch” cubbies.
Burger Patch isn’t done expanding, either
“The overwhelming support of both our loyal customers and first-timers during these unprecedented months has allowed us to continue our growth and reach closer into the neighborhoods demanding more Burger Patch,” Phil Horn said in the release. “The appetite for our unique blend of modern ingredients with nostalgic taste hasn’t slowed and we see an aggressive path for continued expansion in the near future.”
Burger Patch is hiring 35 full- and part-time employees starting at more than $16 per hour, with training beginning immediately at the midtown location. Submit resumes at www.TheBurgerPatch.com/careers if interested.
