Sacramento-area Chick-fil-A to close temporarily for remodeling. What to know
Chick-fil-A in Folsom will temporarily close starting in the fall, according to a WARN Act notice filed with the California Employment Development Department.
Starting Sept. 25, the fried chicken franchise’s location at 2679 E. Bidwell St. in the Broadstone Plaza will be shut down for remodeling for approximately nine weeks, leaving 85 employees temporarily jobless, according to the WARN notice. The affected workers will be given outstanding pay and applicable benefits due to them ahead of the layoff, the letter reads.
According to the EDD, the WARN Act mandates employers give employees and the government at least 60 days of notice before a mass layoff of 50 or more people. The Chick-fil-A notice was filed July 25, which is 62 days ahead of the scheduled layoff.
The WARN letter did not include an expected reopening date, saying the information may change due to “events that are unforeseeable or beyond our control.”
The Bidwell Street location is Chick-fil-A’s only outpost in Folsom, with 10 locations spanning the capital region. It first opened in 2012, according to the store’s Facebook page, and is operated by Crane Food Services LLC, a Folsom-based franchisee.
The locations nearest to the Folsom restaurant are at 4040 Douglas Blvd. in Granite Bay and 2354 Sunrise Blvd. in Rancho Cordova.
