Hello Kitty Cafe Truck returns for a sweet pop-up in Sacramento this weekend
The Arden Fair mall will be the sweetest place to be this weekend when a pop-up truck featuring a beloved Japanese icon returns.
Sanrio’s brightly colored Hello Kitty Cafe Truck will make its first stop of 2026 in Arden Arcade on Saturday, Jan. 10 with treats and unique Hello Kitty-themed products.
Here’s what Hello Kitty fans can expect.
What is the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck?
The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck is a mobile shop hauling Sanrio-branded merchandise and desserts. The large pink van covered in images of sweets and the eponymous kitty character travels to more than 100 locations across the country each year.
Sanrio has operated three cafe trucks around the U.S. since 2014.
The West Coast-based truck last visited the Sacramento area in May, when it stopped at the Creekside Town Center in Roseville. The truck was most recently at Arden Fair in January 2025.
The Hello Kitty Cafe has three brick-and-mortar locations in California — in Santa Clara and Universal City, as well as its flagship store in Irvine. An offshoot Gudetama Cafe featuring the lazy egg Gudetama character is open in Buena Park.
What will the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck serve in Sacramento?
It is unclear what is on the cafe truck’s 2026 menu. Last year, the truck celebrated its 10th anniversary traversing the country with a line of special anniversary merchandise, including a glass mug ($25), Hello Kitty plush toy ($40), a sweater ($65) and more.
Despite its cafe name, the truck does not serve beverages. Instead, it had a small menu of dessert treats, as of 2025:
- Five-piece macaron set for $20
- Three-piece cookie set for $18
- Eight-piece madeleine set for $16
- A “giant chef cookie” for $16
When and where will the Hello Kitty truck be in Sacramento?
According to a Facebook post, the sprinkle-clad cafe truck will be near the RH Outlet and Q stores at Arden Fair mall, 1689 Arden Way, on Saturday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. The Sanrio website indicates the truck will not accept cash, only card payments.
This weekend’s visit will be the truck’s seventh trip to Arden Fair since 2019. Between January and March, the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck is scheduled to make 11 other stops in California after Sacramento. According to Facebook, the West Coast truck will stop in the Bay Area’s Fremont and San Bruno before traveling to eight locations around Southern California.
Sanrio has not announced if the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck will stop in the capital region again in 2026, but pop-ups at the Westfield Galleria at Roseville have been common since 2016, according to its Facebook page.
