Pete’s Restaurant & Brewhouse in Arden ‘temporarily’ closed

Pete’s Restaurant & Brewhouse in the Howe ‘Bout Arden shopping center has temporarily closed, according to its website.

Considered a staple to the robust shopping center on Arden Way, the closure of the Arden restaurant is the latest chapter in a chain of business challenges.

Pete’s closed its Arden Way restaurant last week, according to the Sacramento Business Journal. It was locked and had a “for lease” sign in its window during its typical lunch hour.

A call to the phone number listed on its website went unanswered.

The nearly 40-year-old local restaurant chain shuttered its Roseville location last year after eight years in operation, according to reporting by The Sacramento Bee..

Filings obtained by the Sacramento Business Journal estimated that the restaurant chain owed around $1 million to $10 million in assets and liabilities separately at the time it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in February, which occured one month after its El Dorado Hills location closed, according to the news report.

Other restaurants within the Pete’s franchise rebranded as Frends Brewhouse, a process that began in 2025. Those restaurants include Elk Grove, Village 5 and Folsom locations. The original J Street location also rebranded, according to a Google search.

Pete’s opened on J Street in 1987, serving American bar food. The chain, which prides itself on being local, wrote on its website it “strives to be a true reflection of our guests in every community we serve.” The website shows Pete’s remains open in Yuba City, Rocklin and Redding.

The owners did not respond to an emailed request for comment.
