Man arrested after starting now-contained Shingle Fire with illegal fireworks
An Elk Grove man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of starting the 316-acre Shingle fire, which firefighters contained Thursday morning, according to Cal Fire.
Fire officials said that Jacob Morris, 21, of Elk Grove had used illegal fireworks in sparking the blaze Wednesday night. Morris was booked into Sacramento County Jail and was released Thursday.
The fire started off of South Shingle and Latrobe roads west of the unincorporated community of Latrobe. No structures were destroyed and evacuation of several residences in the town were lifted Thursday morning.
