Firefighters rescue worker who fell 35 feet down a shaft in Galt, officials say
Firefighters rescued a construction worker who fell 35 feet down a shaft Thursday in Galt, according to the Consumnes Fire Department.
The firefighters were called to conduct a confined space rescue at the construction site along Pringle Avenue, just west of Highway 99. Firefighters from Sacramento and Stockton also were called to help with the rescue.
The firefighters successfully pulled the construction worker from the shaft, the Fire Department announced on its Twitter account. Fire officials said the construction worker suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a hospital.
Officials did not disclose the name of the construction company or indicate how the worker fell down the shaft.
