Passenger killed in Highway 160 crash in Sacramento identified by coroner as Rio Linda woman
The woman who was killed after the car she was in barreled into a tree on Highway 160 in Sacramento has been identified.
Sonciera Dejarnette Bomar-Royal, 43, of Rio Linda was killed Saturday near Canterbury Road in a crash that the California Highway Patrol said was triggered by the driver, Mark Grosvenor.
Bomar-Royal and another passenger, identified as Anthony Jones, 26, were found unrestrained and trapped in the vehicle by officers after the incident happened around 10:20 a.m., the Highway Patrol said. All three were hospitalized with major injuries; Bomar-Royal was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
Grosvenor, 34, of Rancho Cordova was found to be under the influence at the time of the crash.
On Wednesday, Grosvenor was released from the hospital and arrested on suspicion of several charges including felony vehicular manslaughter. He was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail and awaits arraignment, the CHP said in an update.
No further information was provided on the condition of Jones.
