Driver dies after vehicle veers off rural road and overturns in Yolo County, CHP says
A driver died early Wednesday after his vehicle veered off a rural road in Yolo County and overturned in a single-vehicle crash, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal crash was initially reported shortly after 5 a.m. on Highway 16, just east of County Road 82, according to a CHP news release. Officers from the CHP’s Woodland Area Office were called to investigate the crash.
Officers arrived and found an overturned Acura RDX. The CHP determined only one vehicle was involved in the crash.
The Acura was heading east on Highway 16 at an unknown speed. The CHP said Acura went off the south side of the road and onto the road shoulder, where the vehicle overturned onto its left side.
Medics and another driver who stopped to help pulled the driver from his vehicle, according to the CHP. The Acura driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Yolo County Coroner’s Office will release the driver’s name once his family has been properly notified.
CHP officers were investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
