Black Friday shopping in Sacramento: See what deals these national chains are offering

Thanksgiving is here — and that means it’s time for Black Friday sales. Even as the day of deals turns into a season, with some stores offering Black Friday discounts by Halloween, hundreds of millions of shoppers are still expected to spend big at the end of this week.

More than 158 million people across the U.S. intend to shop Thanksgiving weekend 2021, according to the National Retail Federation. That’s more than last year, but not quite as high as pre-pandemic levels. COVID-19 has reeled in Black Friday, at least a little bit: some major stores, including Target, will no longer open on Thanksgiving Day itself.

If you’re looking to take advantage of Black Friday deals in the Sacramento area and beyond, here’s a survey of what some major retailers are offering this year:

Major chains

Target: Most Sacramento-area locations open at 7 a.m. Friday

• Up to 30% off televisions and up to 50% off home theater accessories
• Up to $60 off Apple products like AirPods and Apple Watch
• Up to 40% off kitchen appliances and vacuums
• and buy one get one half off on major toy brands

Walmart: Most locations open at 5 a.m. Friday

Like at many retailers, Black Friday deals are already rolling out in waves at Walmart. Wirecutter recommends these Walmart bargains:

• A $59 AncestryDNA Testing kit, which usually costs $80
• A $229 Cricut Maker Machine, which usually costs $369

Clothing stores

Nordstrom: Nordstrom usually opens at 10 a.m., but some stores may open as early as 8 a.m.

• Nordstrom is offering Black Friday deals up to 50% off through Friday.

Ann Taylor: Opens 8 a.m. Friday

On its holiday collection, Ann Taylor is offering:

• 50% off three or more full price items
• 40% off two full price items
• 30% off one full price item

Madewell: Opens 8 a.m. on Friday at the Arden Fair location and 7 a.m. at the Roseville Galleria location.

• Madewell is offering 30% off using the code OHJOY at checkout through Sunday.

Home and technology

Apple: The Apple store at Arden Fair opens at 11 a.m. Friday

Starting Friday, you can get gift cards with certain Apple purchases, like:

• A $50 Apple gift card with an iPhone 12 or Apple Watch
• A $100 Apple gift card with a Mac or iPad purchase

Crate and Barrel: Opens 7 a.m. on Friday

• Up to $75 off Vitamix Blenders
• Up to 20% of certain Staub cookware
• Up to 30% of select Cuisinart appliances

Home Depot: Most locations open at 6 a.m. Friday

Home Deport has offered Black Friday deals all month, including special deals of the day. Example deals include:
