Pedestrian fatality

A Union Pacific train struck and killed a pedestrian Sunday afternoon in Sacramento, according to authorities.

The fatal incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. near the Cottonwood Estates mobile home park, according to Capt. Parker Wilbourn of the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.

The circumstances remain under investigation. The identity of the person killed has not been released.

The death comes about four months after two people were killed after being struck by a train on Union Pacific Railroad property in Elk Grove. They were identified as Duane Love, 37, of Elk Grove, and Mariah Gonzales, 25, of Sacramento.
