1 killed in crash between propane truck and car on Highway 12 near Lodi, CHP says
One person was killed following a collision between a propane truck and a car Thursday morning on Highway 12, about 10 miles west of Lodi, authorities said.
Officers with the California Highway Patrol’s Stockton office said they received a report of the crash around 10:45 a.m. at Highway 12 and North Guard Road. A propane truck collided with a car after not seeing it, then the truck crashed into a 30,000-gallon propane tank, according to CHP Stockton spokesman Officer Ruben Jones.
First reports indicate the car was overturned and engulfed in flames, officials said.
One fatality was reported, though it is unclear which party was pronounced dead at the scene, Jones said. The San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office was requested around noon, according to CHP officials.
Highway 12 was closed in both directions beginning around 11 a.m., according to law enforcement.
