Discount furniture chain is closing Sacramento-area store. See where and what’s on sale

What's opening in the Sacramento area

A national retail chain specializing in discount furniture and home appliances is shutting down stores across the United States, including two in the capital region.

American Freight Appliances and Furniture recently “commenced store closing sales at all of its 328 locations and online,” according to a Wednesday, Nov. 6, news release from Hilco Consumer-Retail, which is managing the sales for American Freight.

Customers can expect “significant discounts” in store and via the American Freight’s website, americanfreight.com, the release said.

“Our goal is to deliver outstanding value to customers during this full chain closing sale,” Ian Fredericks, CEO of Hilco Consumer-Retail, said in the release. “Everything is on sale and must be sold, and we recommend shopping early for the best selection.”

“Select American Freight financing and delivery services will remain available to customers,” the release said.

On Sunday, Nov. 3, Franchise Group announced that it was “restructuring” after declaring Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
