Yolo County coroner IDs Woodland High School freshman killed on Interstate 5

Roadway fatality

A 14-year-old girl killed on Interstate 5 late Saturday night in Yolo County has been identified by the Yolo County Coroner’s Office.

The California Highway Patrol was alerted about 11:25 p.m. to an incident on southbound I-5, south of Highway 16 involving a minor. The Yolo County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Cali-Marie Roth. She was a freshman at Woodland High School, according to a GoFundMe.

Officer Rodney Fitzhugh, a spokesman for the CHP’s Woodland office, and the CHP’s Valley Division both declined to say whether the girl was a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, was inside a vehicle during a collision or if a vehicle wasn’t involved.

The girl was walking on I-5 north of Woodland, according to the Davis Enterprise newspaper.

“The nature of this incident is very sensitive,” Fitzhugh wrote in an email. “To protect the minor involved and their family, detailed information regarding this incident is not being released.”

Roth enjoyed creating clothes, doing makeup, hanging out with her friends and skateboarding, the GoFundMe said. The fundraiser is collecting money to help Roth’s family lay the teen to rest.

“Our beautiful blue eyed princess was taken way too soon,” the GoFundMe said. “The family is left devastated with the realization that they will never get to see Cali graduate high school, get married or have babies of her own.”
