Pedestrian dies after being struck by car while crossing Fair Oaks roadway

A man was fatally struck by a car Sunday night as he tried to cross a roadway in Fair Oaks.

The collision happened just after 7 p.m. on Madison Avenue east of Sunrise Boulevard, along the border with Citrus Heights, according to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District logs.

The unidentified man crossed the roadway outside the crosswalk in front of the car as it headed east on Madison, according to the California Highway Patrol’s East Sacramento office. The driver was not injured, authorities said.

The man’s name is not being released pending notification of family by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
