5 Sacramento-area restaurants ranked among Yelp’s Top 100 Places To Eat in 2025. Which ones?
Five Sacramento-area restaurants are among the best places to grab a bite in the nation, according to Yelp.
The popular review website recently released its 2025 list of the Top 100 Places to Eat in the United States,
“Across the U.S., chefs are crafting extraordinary dishes from fast-casual counters, food trucks and crowded food halls,” Yelp said in a Wednesday, Feb. 12, article, putting a focus on “delicious food at fair prices in comfortable settings.”
“Of course, you’ll still find plenty of fine-dining places for special occasions and big splurges,” the site said.
The No. 1 restaurant in the country, according to Yelp, is Holbox, a Michelin Guide-rated seafood spot in Los Angeles.
Here’s which Sacramento-area restaurants made it on the list and where they ranked:
What are Yelp’s best places to eat in Sacramento area?
A total of 38 California restaurant’s made Yelp’s list of the top places to eat in the country, including five eateries in the Sacramento region.
The highest ranking Sacramento-area restaurant was Wally’s Cafe, 2110 Sunset Blvd. in Rocklin.
The Middle Eastern restaurant, which landed at No. 6 on Yelp’s list, has been family owned and operated by Walid “Wally” Matar for 16 years, according to Yelp.
The eatery had an average Yelp review rating of 4.8 stars out of 5 as of Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Popular dishes include lentil soup, beef gyros, lamb kabobs and pomegranate chicken.
Yelp reviewer Scott H. of San Francisco said Wally’s Cafe delivers “an all-around amazing dining experience.”
“The food was off-the-charts good. The portion sizes were enormous. And the service could not be beat,” the reviewer wrote.
Just miles down the road in Roseville is Guy’s for Lunch, which was No. 21 on Yelp’s list.
The sandwich shop at 1249 Pleasant Grove Blvd. prides itself on serving up “basic, fine food, fast.”
With an average Yelp rating of 4.8 stars, Guy’s For Lunch is known for menu offerings such as chicken noodle soup, turkey chili and pulled pork and pastrami sandwiches.
“The food he serves is delicious,” Scott M. of Lakewood wrote in a Yelp review, adding that diners “can’t go wrong from the sandwiches to the chili to the soups.”
Italian restaurant Pastosa By Lucia, 545 Industrial Drive in Galt, ranked at No. 36 on Yelp’s list with menu offerings including lasagna, spicy sausage ravioli and minestrone soup.
Rachel K. of Sacramento called Pastosa by Lucia one of her “favorite spots for Italian food,” adding that the restaurant’s mix-and-match approach to its menu makes it “easy for the whole family to order a dish that they’ll love.”
The restaurant carries a Yelp rating of 4.7 stars out of 5.
West Coast Taco Bar, 8791 Elk Grove Blvd. in Elk Grove, made it to No. 57 on Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat list. The Mexican restaurant had a 4.6 average rating on Yelp as of Tuesday.
Menu favorites, according to Yelp, include Dirty Diana tacos, Sac Town Fire burritos, carne asada and shrimp tacos.
“The tacos (all of them) are sensational,” Yelp reviewer Robert B. of Elk Grove wrote. “The beans are full of flavor, and the horchata and watermelon drinks are perfect.
Engawa Fusion,7301 Stockton Blvd. in Sacramento, is known for its ramen, sushi and other Asian-style bites.
The Japanese fusion restaurant came it at No. 94 on Yelp’s list of the best spots to eat.
As of Tuesday, Engawa had an average Yelp review rating of 4.4 stars out of 5.
“This is a very cute little spot,” Tyler F. of Clovis wrote in a Yelp review, praising the tonkatsu and unagi and tuna tacos. “I always get a little nervous when it comes to trying new spots with friends but this place didn’t disappoint.”

How did Yelp come up with its list?
Yelp said it determined its list of the Top 100 Places to Eat in 2025 with the help of its data science team, using information generated from Yelp reviewers’ community submissions.
“We considered both the rating and the volume of the reviews, while accounting for the overall restaurant activity in each business’s area,” a Yelp news release said.
The list was narrowed down using the expertise of Yelp community managers and Trend Expert.
