New Sacramento concert venue is opening soon with ‘world-class’ lineup. Who’s playing?
Sacramento residents have been asking for more live music events and venues in the capital region for years.
That wish has been granted with the opening of a new live entertainment venue in midtown Sacramento in the spring.
Channel 24, 1800 24th St. in Sacramento near R Street, features a main music room with general admission floor viewing and select reserved seats in its tiered balcony.
The venue, which also has multiple bars and an upstairs open-air patio, can hold up to 2,150 occupants.
Channel 24 will launch with a packed lineup of artists and bands including Denzel Curry and Empire of the Sun, according to Another Planet Entertainment, a Berkeley-based independent concert promoter and production company founded in 2003.
“We have so many artists touring through Northern California that have to skip Sacramento because there is not an appropriately sized venue for them to play,” Another Planet Entertainment President of Concerts & Festivals Allen Scott said in a Tuesday news release.
“Channel 24, right in the heart of the city, fills that need,” Scott added, “and we hope that the venue quickly becomes an integral part of Sacramento’s vibrant live music scene.”
Here’s what you need to know:
When will new Sacramento live music venue open?
Channel 24, which broke ground in 2024, is set to open in April, according to the release.
In a Tuesday news release, Visit Sacramento President and CEO Mike Testa said the group is excited to see “Another Planet Entertainment invest in and expand Sacramento’s burgeoning music scene.”
“Our city is full of great history when it comes to local music and music venues, and the addition of Channel 24 to our market will bring a long list of new entertainment opportunities to our city and region,” Testa said.
Who’s playing concerts at Channel 24?
On Tuesday, Another Planet Entertainment announced the first batch of shows coming to Channel 24, with the first concert scheduled for April 24.
Liz Liles-Brown, marketing director of Another Planet Entertainment, said concertgoers can expect the mid-size entertainment complex to host artists of varying genres, including indie rock, country, hip hop and electronic.
Here’s who is performing at Channel 24 and when:
April 24: Tucker Wetmore
April 25: Tycho
April 27: Sierra Ferrell
May 2: Wallows
May 4: Empire of the Sun
May 7: Denzel Curry

Liles-Brown said that the venue plans to add more shows to the lineup every week.
“We’re hoping to have about two to three shows every week,” she said, “with entertainment available year-round.”
How can I buy tickets to Channel 24 shows?
Tickets for the upcoming shows can be purchased as early as 10 a.m. Thursday, when venue presale begins.
General tickets go on sale starting at 10 a.m. Friday.
Where can I park?
Liles-Brown said the concert promoter is “actively securing locations” for parking lots.
She said it’s Another Planet Entertainment’s top priority to ensure ample parking and the safety of their patrons.
“There’s a lot of street parking currently, and there’s a lot of nearby lots,” Liles-Brown said. “We’re presenting this all very soon with the city and with the Newton Booth Neighborhoods Association, so more information will be coming very soon.”
Other options include rideshare services such as Uber or Lyft and public transit services including Sacramento Regional Transit’s Gold line, which drops passengers off right at the venue.
How does Channel 24 compare to other venues?
Liles-Brown compared Channel 24 to Fox Theater in Oakland, which Another Planet Entertainment operates.
“We really pride ourselves in just how diverse the programming is there (at Fox Theater), and we’re going to follow suit with Channel 24,” Liles-Brown said. “So what Sacramento can really expect from this venue is the genres will be across the board.”
Although Channel 24 is slightly smaller than the Fox Theater, it’s double the size of Sacramento music venue Ace of Spades, which holds 1,000 people at capacity, its website said.
Liles-Brown said Channel 24 will have a VIP lounge room similar to Good Luck Lounge, Ace of Spades’ adjoining cocktail lounge.
“We’re hoping that’ll come kind of late summer, early fall,” she said. “We’ll have the same sort of setup where, when you buy a ticket to one of our shows, there’s an option to upgrade your ticket to get access into this VIP room that’ll have its own bar and really nice seating.”
Liles-Brown said Channel 24 will be Another Planet Entertainment’s third showroom that will offer a VIP room, joining Fox Theater and Los Angeles music venue The Bellwether.
Why open a new entertainment venue in Sacramento?
Another Planet Entertainment has produced multiple music festivals including Outside Lands in San Francisco or Life Is Beautiful in Las Vegas, as well as concerts at venues including Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco and the Greek Theater in Berkeley.
In Sacramento, Another Planet Entertainment has put on concerts featuring Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend, Nine Inch Nails and other artists.
“We’ve done shows in Sacramento. We love Sacramento,” Liles-Brown said. “We’ve always looked at Sacramento as a perfect spot for more music venues, and it’s finally happening and we’re just beyond thrilled.”
Liles-Brown said the concert promoter has been searching for more than a decade for a “mid-sized venue that would fill the gap that’s extremely needed in Sacramento.”
“Artists are always asking for a show in Sacramento, and there just wasn’t the right spot to put them,” she said.
“Now we can book them in Sacramento at our venue,” Liles-Brown said. “We feel like we’re going to bring extremely world-class, solid acts year-round to Sacramento.”
“We have such an amazing music community already. We have some of the most amazing artists that are being produced from Sacramento,” said Liles-Brown, a native Sacramentan who has been a part of the music scene for two decades. “It’s just such a music-loving community. And so we’re just so excited to open this beautiful venue that we’ve built from the ground up.”
