One killed, one injured in rollover crash on Highway 65 just north of Wheatland, CHP says

Roadway fatality

A driver was killed and a passenger was injured in a rollover crash Thursday afternoon on a southern Yuba County highway.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Yuba-Sutter office, a reddish-orange Toyota Tacoma had veered into the right shoulder of Highway 65 near Dairy Road just after noon. The CHP said the driver appeared to have turned sharply about a mile north of Wheatland, rolling the truck multiple times just off the two lane thoroughfare.

The driver, who was not identified, was killed in the crash. A passenger in the truck, which came to rest on its roof, was transported to a hospital with what authorities described as minor injuries.

Highway 65 had to be closed for about two hours as emergency officials tended to the wreck and cleaned up debris.

The CHP said the crash remained under investigation.

The Yuba County Coroner’s Office was expected to release the identify of the driver once family members are notified of the death.
