Chipotle is opening a new Sacramento-area restaurant — and it’s hiring. Here’s what to know
Popular fast-casual restaurant chain Chipotle Mexican Grill is expanding in the Sacramento area.
Chipotle will open a new location in Sacramento’s Arden-Arcade neighborhood in the next few months, according to planning project documents from Sacramento County.
The store will be the chain’s 15th location in the city.

What is Chipotle Mexican Grill?
Founded in 1993 in Denver, Chipotle Mexican Grill specializes in bowls, tacos and burritos made to order.
“Chipotle was born of the radical belief that there is a connection between how food is raised and prepared, and how it tastes,” Chipotle said on its website. “Real is better. Better for you, better for people, better for our planet. It may be the hard way to do things, but it’s the right way.”
The chain operates more than 3,700 locations worldwide, including 498 locations in California, according to its website.
Where is new location in Sacramento area?
Chipotle Mexican Grill is opening at 2795 Fulton Ave. in Sacramento at the former location of Carl’s Jr.
Chipotle plans to “rejuvenate” the former fast food drive-thru restaurant and its landscaping to add a “modern aesthetic and a welcoming interior,” an application filed with the Sacramento County Planning and Environmental Review Department.
The property is near Assistance League of Sacramento thrift store and Jala Auto Sales used car dealership, and across the street from Ganas Auto used car dealership.
When will Sacramento Mexican restaurant open?
Chipotle’s Fulton Avenue location is scheduled to open during the summer, according to Annie Gradinger, senior analyst of external communications for Chipotle.
An official opening date had not been determined as of Wednesday, Gradinger told The Sacramento Bee via email.

What’s on the menu at Chipotle?
Chipotle Mexican Grill specializes in “making food fresh every day,” with no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, the restaurant chain said on its website.
The chain advertises itself as “one of the first national restaurant brands” to commit to using “local and organic produce” and “responsibly raised meat.”
On the menu, the customer can choose between burritos, burrito bowls, quesadillas, salads and tacos.
Customers can choose from protein options including chicken, steak, beef barbacoa and carnitas, as well as rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream and fresh tomato salsa.
Side dishes include chips, guacamole and queso blanco, and drink options include watermelon limeade, lemonade and agua fresca. You can also get bottled Mexican sodas and fountain drinks.
Is local restaurant hiring employees?
According to Gradinger, Chipotle is looking to hire approximately 30 people to work at its newest Sacramento-area location.
Pay for part-time crew members in California starts at $20 per hour, and employees are eligible for digital tips, according to Indeed.com and Chipotle jobs listings.
Wages may vary depending on workers’ skill level, experience and education.
