A person was hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday after a garage fire spread to a home in North Sacramento’s Del Paso Heights neighborhood, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

Fire crews responded before noon to the blaze in the 4200 block of Marysville Boulevard. Officials said the fire began in the garage and extended into the home, where one person was found inside.

Firefighters rescued the individual and transported them to a hospital. Their condition was described as critical.

Video released by the department showed flames consuming the garage, charring nearby vehicles and extending into the residence.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
