Driver dead in Delta wreck after car crashes into ditch near Walnut Grove

A motorist was killed Tuesday afternoon south of Walnut Grove in southern Sacramento County after driving their car into a ditch, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The driver was the sole occupant in the fatal wreck in the 14800 block of Race Track Road near Tyler Island Road. CHP officers were called just after 3 p.m. on reports that the car overturned in the ditch about 15 feet below the roadway.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by fire personnel, said California Highway Patrol officials at the patrol’s South Sacramento office.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the driver’s identity after notifying next of kin.
