Newark woman killed in car crash north of Marysville, CHP says

Roadway fatality

A 58-year-old woman from Newark was killed in a one-car crash Friday night after the driver lost control of a Mercedes Benz and hit the edge of a bridge in Yuba County, authorities said.

Deputies responded to the crash at roughly 4:50 p.m. on Woodruff Lane near Armstrong Road north of Marysville, which closed the roadway in both directions until about 8 p.m.

The female passenger died on the scene while the driver, a 61-year-old man from Newark, was taken to a hospital after the crash, California Highway Patrol’s Yuba-Sutter office said in a news release. The man’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening when he left the scene, CHP officials said.

Impairment did not appear to have been a factor in the crash, the release said.
