Gerald Escobosa, 73, was driving about 7:15 p.m. a 2009 Nissan Pathfinder on Highway 49, near Post Street, with two passengers. The SUV struck an embankment and overturned, blocking Highway 49, said Officer Hugo Council, a spokesperson with the CHP’s Placerville office.
Escobosa, and 72-year-old passenger Sally Bishop, were ejected from the vehicle, Council said. Both died from their injuries.
Another passenger, a 72-year-old man, was taken to Marshall Hospital with minor injuries, Council said.
