It’s 916 Day in Sacramento. Check out these events in the city to celebrate
September 16 is celebrated as 916 Day in Sacramento.
It’s the region’s area code and in 2018 was launched by then-Mayor Darrell Steinberg as a citywidecelebration to show off the pride of Sacramento.
The Sacramento City Council in 2022 officially declared Sept. 16, as “916 Day.”.
Here’s a lineup of a few 916 Day celebrations across Sacramento.
916 Day Celebration
The Sacramento Store, located at 830 K St. in downtown Sacramento, is having a special celebration for 916 Day.
The event dedicated to everything Sacramento includes exclusive release of their “916 Day” apparel collection.
There will be music from a live DJ during the event, which is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
916 Day Party
Start the evening with the 916 Day Party at Esther’s Park, 3408 Ave., in Oak Park featuring food, music and local vendors.
Live DJs will be providing sounds on the turntable to get the party going. Those jocks include Nekoswavey, DJ Fiji and DJ Purdman.
The event is from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets are $9.16, in honor of Sacramento Day.
Sofar Sounds Sacramento: 916 Day
Sofar Sounds Sacramento is hosting an intimate night of live performances by Sacramento artists to celebrate 916 Day at Legend Has it, a beer and wine vinyl hi-fi listening bar at 410 L St. in downtown Sacramento.
Performers include Hayla V, Rudy Kalma and Karega Bailey.
South Sacramento native and one of the producers of Sofar Sounds Sacramento Chinua Rhodes said he’s “excited” to put the event on for his city.
“We’re going to have some great artists and acts,” Rhodes said. “We’re going to have a good time, man, and so I’m excited about it, my team’s excited about it. We’re only doing about 50 to 60 tickets to keep it really intimate so people have an experience and opportunity to connect with the artistry.”
The event begins at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, their website said. Ticket sales are limited.
Taco Tuesdaze at Mix
916 Day just so happens to fall on a Tuesday and Mix Downtown, 1525 L St., offers an eventful night every Tuesday evening for their Taco Tuesdaze theme night.
It is the “midweek industry party you didn’t know you needed”, their website said.
Awaiting is a night filled with taco towers, punch bowl drinks and party games including cornhole, beer pong and Jenga.
The event has a free guest list. Larger groups can reserve a VIP table online. Enjoy the rooftop views 6 p.m to midnight. Happy hour is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
