Teen driver dies in single-vehicle crash near Elk Grove’s Lakeside neighborhood

A 17-year-old boy died Sunday night after his car crashed on Elk Grove Boulevard near the Lakeside community, according to Elk Grove police.

The single-vehicle collision happened shortly after 9 p.m. between Shorelake and Waterfowl drives on the city’s westside, officers said.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was expected to be identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

The crash shut down Elk Grove Boulevard in both directions until about 5 a.m. Monday.

Elk Grove police said the crash remains under investigation.
